Sayyidat Al-Rababa (The Lady of the Rababa)
Sayyidat Al-Rababa is a musical ensemble led by the artist Safaa Al-Hilali. It blends Egyptian heritage with the epics of the Hilaliyya narrative (Sira al-Hilaliyya), Upper Egyptian (Sa'idi) style, and the spirit of contemporary music.
The band is unique in presenting performances that rely on live playing of the Rababa (a traditional stringed instrument) accompanied by a warm voice that revives authentic Egyptian art. They present concerts that reflect the power of women in folk music and reintroduce Egyptian heritage in a modern way that resonates with audiences from various backgrounds.
