We look to start these training courses in stable dinghies, before moving into smaller single handed boats, or playing with spinnakers (a coloured sail at the front of the boat). Generally we will use Wayfarers and Topazs for the adult dinghy sailing courses. Much of the work afloat will be undertaken in a larger ratio of students to instructors, and without the instructors onboard. The emphasis is on increasing the self-reliance and decision-making of the sailor. We will always make every effort to ensure all instructors are female, but on occasion we may struggle to get enough female instructors. Should that happen, we will use male instructors, who have the right approach to working on these courses.
You can expect a relaxed approach, with as much time spent on each aspect of the training as needed to help you feel comfortable with it.
Each day starts at 0930hrs and will finish at 1630hrs. We will provide hot and cold drinks, and our friends at Torta have an offer for packed lunch boxes or snack boxes.
Buoyancy aids are supplied as part of each course. We will only allow our buoyancy aids to be used which are checked thoroughly and tested to ensure they remain safe.
Wetsuits are also supplied but please feel free to wear your own wetsuit if you own one.
We have a limited supply of footwear, so we suggest that you wear old trainers, or shoes that you don’t mind getting wet. Please no Crocs or flipflops as they catch on parts of the boat and can be dangerous to the wearer.
The price for this weekend session is £200.
