About this Event

Featuring an exciting lineup of talent, Rudy’s Jazz Room’s "Ladies of Jazz" showcase presents three of Nashville's favorite female vocalists collaborating together, displaying a variety of original and distinct vocal talents and backed by the well noted and extreme talents of some of Nashvilles best musicians.
Wendy Burns
Flute playing jazz vocalist Wendy Burns of Nashville TN has studied and performed songs from the 1940's Jazz Big Band era since the age of 9 years old. She has been described as having a unique voice that fits the era. She has performed at the Grand Ole Opry and has sessioned and performed with many of the Nashville classic country greats. With a deep passion for jazz standards, and as a hopeless romantic, Wendy believes there's beauty in staying true to the melodies as they were written. Her set list includes songs from the "Great American Songbook", jazz standards, and a number of her fabulous original pieces that reminisce of cherished jazz classics you've never heard. Wendy's influences are Judy Garland, Doris Day, Frank Sinatra, Tommy Dorsey, The Andrew Sisters, and Helen Forrest, to name a few. You will also hear some of her original tunes in vaudeville fashion featuring "Grover" her ukulele.
"She expertly delivers jazz vocals in traditional speakeasy style and displays her exceptional talent on flute as well. She does an excellent job, a true entertainer, she holds her audience and has them laughing with her patter between songs." - Gary Cobb, Nashville Tn
"When singing the classics, I’ve always tried to sing the melodies as close to the original version as possible. I feel you can get closest to the composer's feelings by doing that and by staying within it that realm. To think that someone in a time long ago did their best to put their feelings and words of love on a sheet of paper so that generations ahead would hear it just as it was written is a golden key to a door of a time before. Maybe I'm just a hopeless romantic and madly in love with the idea of living back in that time." - Wendy Burns
Tabitha Meeks
Tabitha Meeks is a Nashville pianist, singer, and songwriter. She has performed at the Ryman Auditorium, Bonnaroo Festival, and sung with artists such as Charles Kelley from Lady A, Chris Young, Lainey Wilson and more. Tabitha can be found around Nashville performing with the popular musician's collective "Pitch Meeting Band" and her jazz pop trio at Skull's Rainbow Room on Sunday mornings. She was recently a finalist in Lightning100's 2024 Music City Mayhem Competition and was their "Pick of the Week" in September 2023. She has worked as a pianist on the FOX show "Monarch", and has had her original music on Netflix, Paramount +, Hallmark, Peacock, CBS, MTV and more. She was recently featured on Musicnotes.com podcast and has performed all over in 2024 including Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival, Musicians Corner, Analog at Hutton Hotel and Skip the Record festival.
Annabella Gelmetti
Annabella Gelmetti is an instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and producer based in Nashville, Tennessee. She began studying guitar at age five under instructors such as Tim Uecker and Mellad Abeid, as well as alto saxophone under Cameron La Plante. Her music blends folk, alternative, and jazz influences, with her guitar work inspired by artists like João Gilberto. Annabella regularly performs her original compositions at local venues, including The Bluebird Cafe, Commodore Grille, and Aloft West End, and has led successful jazz combos such as The Act.
In addition to her live performances, Annabella works as a sheet music engraver for Graphite Publishing. She considers herself an artist and enjoys cross-disciplinary collaboration. She has composed over 50 pieces for dance, including her vaudeville-inspired ballet, "Curiouser & Curiouser" (2024). Her most recent project, a 17-minute street opera titled “Sonder”, premiered on August 28, 2024, as part of a community initiative in front of the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in downtown Nashville, featuring Latin pieces like João Gilberto's "Doralice" and Antonio Carlos Jobim's "Corcovado", alongside original songs such as "Unfinished Business". "Each song offers another great peek into Annabella's mind of attics full of cobwebs and dolls whose eyes follow you when you walk past." - Paul Ivy, award-winning songwriter
"It is an honor And a blessing to work with such incredible musicians and to be able to call them friends. Please join us and experience the their awesomeness." -Wendy Burns
