Ladies Crafting Day, How to make Corn Dollies

Corn Dollies were made by indigenous cultures for a variety of reasons. They have been used as charms to protect homes or livestock or to ward off omens seen in bad dreams. They are also often made to represent the spirit of the crop. I thought to myself, wouldn't it be fun and interesting to make corn husk dolls like both Native Americans and the colonists did?
Thought to give the Spirit of the corn a home to live in over the winter, as the corn in the fields was harvested, and are used as decorations in harvest festivals.
The corn husk is a lovely natural materials to use.A braid of raffia can be used to make arms, and then you can personalize the design and have fun adding hair, and other accessories: a button hair clip, some ears of wheat to add detail to her dress, or a piece of wheat for your dolly to hold to symbolise the harvest.
