Join the Latin American Cinemateca of Los Angeles (LACLA), in collaboration with the Mexican Consulate General of Los Angeles and the Argentine Consulate General in Los Angeles, for an inspiring evening celebrating women filmmakers.
We proudly present Alemania, a coming-of-age drama and part of LACLA's Cine Nueva Onda (New Wave) program, which highlights young and experimental Latin American filmmakers.
About the Film: Alemania
Alemania is an autobiographical portrait of a middle-class Argentine teenager in the 1990s. Lola, a determined 16-year-old, dreams of a semester in Germany, which she believes will bring freedom and excitement. But as her family faces emotional and financial challenges, Lola must navigate strained relationships and personal growth to discover the path to true happiness.

About the Program Curator
Guido Segal is an accomplished screenwriter, film professor, and programmer. He has worked on numerous international projects and collaborated with renowned organizations like Disney and Telemundo. Segal currently teaches screenwriting at UCLA and is a key contributor to the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival and the Film Noir Foundation.
