STELLAR ALT-COUNTRY ARTIST LACHIE HAYES HEADS NORTH ON HIS SUBSATELLITE TOUR“In Lachie Hayes, we find a storyteller who merges grit and grace, a musician grounded in place yet pushing the boundaries of genre…he not only defines a new sound but helps chart a new musical frontier for the deep south.” – 13th Floor
From the heart of southland, alt-country troubadour Lachie Hayes brings his soul-stirring sound to town to celebrate the release of his debut album SUBSATELLITE.
Based in the deep-south, Lachie Hayes (Vocals/Guitar) is Northland bound, hitting the road with his band The Tokonui Chainsaws, featuring Antonio Mercuri (Drums); Michael Crook (Guitar), and Liam Fairbairn (Bass) to deliver gritty grooves, soaring ballads, and a stage presence that’s equal parts southern charm and storyteller grit.
Performing four North Island headline shows, taking in Auckland, Hamilton, Helensville and Leigh, Lachie and his band will play tracks off the new album Subsatellite, produced by NZ music icon Delaney Davidson. An album of gritty, genre-bending tunes, the shows will be a deep dive into love, loss, and life on the fringe, songs that resonate with a sound that walks the line between country, blues and rock.
With stunning singles like ‘This River’, ‘S.O.B.’ and title track ‘Subsatellite’ already making waves, Lachie is quickly becoming one of the most compelling voices in New Zealand’s alt-country scene.
Raised on a hill country sheep farm in the Caitlins, Lachie grew up playing music in woolsheds and community halls, surrounded by generations of family musicians. That rural spirit runs deep in the album Subsatellite – a raw, honest collection of songs about love, loss, and the quiet poetry of everyday life.
