This is LACC's time honoured morning pace line training. All riders attending for the first time should ride in group 5 or 6 to learn the route and the pace line rules.There are up to 6 groups, and we ride 5 laps of the course pictured (anticlockwise).
Approximate speeds for each group:
Group 1 average speed 42kph+
Group 2 average speed 39kph+
Group 3 average speed 40kph for 2 laps then the reset at 36kph
Group 4 average 36kph
Group 5 someone in the group will tell you to slow down if you are going too fast.
Group 6 someone in the group will tell you to slow down if you are going too fast
Groups may be combined depending on numbers.
The pace lines are a great way to increase your speed and improve your bunch riding skills however please remember it is not a race. You must obey the road rules and ride for safety first, and please be respectful of other riders. Fast is smooth so keep your pace even, avoid surging and don't overlap wheels. Nobody will be impressed if you drop the group, and if you need to leave the line signal before moving.
