About this Event
Do you operate a business in the meat and poultry processing industries?
Many workers in these industries are considered labour hire workers under the Labour Hire Licensing Act 2018 (Vic).
If your business provides or uses labour hire workers, it’s important to understand and comply with your obligations under the Act – penalties exceeding $600,000 can apply for non-compliance.
The Labour Hire Authority (LHA) will be conducting compliance activities at meat processing facilities in 2024, as part of its focus on key labour hire industries.
LHA is holding a free, tailored information session for the meat and poultry processing industries in Dandenong at 2.00pm on 1 August 2024.
The session will be presented by Labour Hire Licensing Commissioner, Steve Dargavel, and will cover:
Businesses’ obligations under Victorian labour hire law
- What to expect from an LHA site visit
- LHA’s recent and upcoming compliance and enforcement focus
- LHA's communication campaign for meat and poultry processing workers
- Tools and resources to support businesses
There will also be an opportunity to speak with the Commissioner and ask questions.
