An exciting new schools production, created specially for Years 4 – 7 with curriculum links to Science Stage 3 and 4.Shine a light on light itself as students are invited to enter the curious and wonder-filled world of Luminous — a backyard scientist on a mission to understand light. Part theatre and part interactive research project, Laboratory of Light provides a theatrical lens through which teachers and students engage with the Science syllabus.
Through live experiments, live music and magical scientific discoveries, the performance evokes a sense of wonder for the world around us and how it works.

THE STORY
Luminous is fascinated by light. Where does light comes from? How does it travel? What is it made of? Luminous spends their nights conducting experiments in the garden shed, or as they call it, the Laboratory of Light. One night, a big electromagnetic wave is traveling through the Universe. When part of the wave touches Earth, Luminous traps the smallest unit of light, a photon, in his Rezalator. But for there to be light, there must also be darkness…
THE EXPERIENCE
The adventure begins with the arrival of education resources prior to attending the performance. Resources are delivered via Google Classroom with in-character audio files guiding students through self-directed experiments and activities. Resources include worksheets, info sheets, and a quiz, using science as a tool to understand and engage with the world.
On the day of the performance your class will spend time with Luminous in the Laboratory of Light. The performance will feature original contemporary music compositions.
