BURST DANCE LAB"Burst" is an artistic research and interdisciplinary dance project and deals with the diversity of human life stories. The focus is on the perspectives of those who are often overlooked. An artistic collage was created from interviews with people from a wide range of origins and backgrounds. The live performance is accompanied by a polyphonic sound installation and a film mosaic. Burst is an artistic call that celebrates the complexity of being human – in a way that only dance and multidimensional art can.
The lab will include improvisation on the material such as interviews and videos, working with partnering and space as well as relating to voices, emotions and musicality. Participants will also explore the choreography of the piece and work on phrases.

Bruna Diniz Afonso is a Brazilian-born dancer and choreographer based in Graz, Austria. With a foundation in classical and contemporary dance from Belo Horizonte and Vancouver, and a bachelor’s degree in Product Design from UEMG (Belo Horizonte), Bruna brings a multidisciplinary perspective to her work. Her career began with Balé Jovem do Palácio das Artes (Belo Horizonte) and Lamondance Company (Vancouver), before joining Theater Ulm in 2012 under Roberto Scafati. From 2013, Bruna performed at Graz Opera, first under Darrel Toulon and later Jörg Weinöhl, taking on prominent roles. Since 2018, Bruna has been working as a freelance dancer, dance teacher, and choreographer, engaging in projects across Austria and Germany. Her work includes granted projects in Graz, such as “BURST” at Kunsthaus and “present.in.difference”, as well as, performances at Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Berlin. An active contributor to dance film, Bruna’s work has been featured at festivals in Austria and Brazil.
