La Grande transition est de retour pour une cinquième édition! La conférence de cette année, qui a pour thème « Raviver les solidarités post-capitalistes », aura lieu à Montréal du 29 mai au 1er juin 2025.
Cet événement de 4 jours vise à rassembler plus de 1000 participant·es pour discuter des critiques du capitalisme, des stratégies qui visent son dépassement et des modèles d’organisation économique alternatifs. En d’autres mots, il s’agit de réfléchir la transition hors du capitalisme, pour une alternative sociale et économique qui soit écologique, féministe, égalitaire et démocratique.
La Grande transition offre une programmation bilingue visant à réunir chercheur.euse.s, militant.e.s, et membres du public. La conférence a trois grands objectifs: (1) promouvoir les alternatives au capitalisme (2) outiller les mouvements sociaux et les initiatives transformatrices en partageant des expériences et des savoirs et (3) renforcer les liens entre les milieux universitaires critiques et les organisations militantes, ainsi qu’entre les milieux francophones et anglophones en Amérique du Nord.
Cette année, La Grande transition est organisée en collaboration avec le Forum social mondial des intersections (FSMI), qui aura lieu au même moment. Tous les billets pour La Grande transition donneront également accès au FSMI.

The Great Transition is back for a fifth edition! This year’s conference, titled “Reviving post-capitalist solidarities,” will take place in Montreal from May 29th to June 1st, 2025.
This 4-day event seeks to bring together over 1000 participants to discuss critiques of capitalism, strategies to overcome it, and alternative economic models. In other words, it is about thinking of the transition out of capitalism, for a social and economic alternative that would be ecological, feminist, egalitarian and democratic.
The Great Transition offers a bilingual program that seeks to bring together researchers, activists, and members of the public. The conference has three main objectives: (1) to promote alternatives to capitalism; (2) to equip social movements and transformative initiatives with better theoretical tools by sharing experiences and knowledge; and (3) to strengthen ties between critical academic circles and militant organizations, as well as between Francophone and Anglophone communities in North America.
This year, The Great Transition is organized in collaboration with the World Social Forum of Intersections (FSMI), which will be taking place at the same time. All tickets for The Great Transition will also grant access to FSMI events.
