About this Event
During the 1950s, the Mexican economy experienced a significant surge , which led to an increase in the number of women joining the workforce.
However, this shift also put additional pressure on women who had to balance work and family responsibilities, including preparing home-cooked meals.
To help newlywed young women who lacked cooking skills, Josefina Velazquez de Leon wrote a series of cookbooks titled La Cocina de la Recien Casada.
One of the recipes shared in her book is a "Sopa de chayote," a delicious and easy-to-prepare soup.
In this cooking demonstration, attendees will learn how to make this soup from the 1951 published cookbook.
