Kura Whakarauora are for those people who want to increase their use of te reo Māori on a day to day basis. Kura Whakarauora is about looking at ways you can bring te reo into your home, within your classroom or school-wide, within your workplace or community. The Kura is a supportive environment to learn, have fun, have a good time and build a plan to help YOU use te reo Māori more regularly.
You do not need to understand language planning or know te reo Māori, but you must be motivated to make change - changes for yourself firstly, then about being able to influence others, whether it’s a few words, a karakia or more. Kura Whakarauora is about making a start. Te reo experts will be there to support and guide you, and (hopefully) make you laugh at the same time! Lots of whānau have used their plans to create reo speaking homes, increase use in schools, speaking Māori at certain times of the day at work or to build the depth of paepae. Everyone needs a plan to use te reo so it keeps you on track as you build on your reo journey.
