BIOGRAPHY
Ricky Campanelli was born on August 14th, 1979, in Montreal, Canada, a city known for its rich arts and cultural scene and diverse musical landscape. Growing up in a musical family, his passion for creative expression through sound was nurtured by his parents, who were long-time musicians themselves. This early exposure to music set the foundation for his career, allowing him to explore and develop his talents from a young age.��
Campanelli honed his skills during his years as a disc jockey at Club 649, Montreal’s first Latin nightclub, established by his parents. It was there that he met Jesus “El Niño” Alejandro, a talented singer, musician, and composer, who recognized Campanelli’s potential and became his mentor. This mentorship was pivotal, as it deepened Campanelli’s understanding of music and inspired him to pursue his creative ambitions further.��
In 2001, Campanelli founded SoundTrip Studios, a hub for musical innovation where he has collaborated with a wide array of internationally renowned artists. His studio has seen the likes of Edwin Bonilla, Johnny Polanco, Jesus “El Niño” Alejandro, Luisito Rosario, Croma Latina (Italy), Frankie Vázquez, Marcial Istúriz, Jimmy Bosch, and Karl Wolf, among others. His work at SoundTrip Studios has not only solidified his reputation as a skilled sound engineer but also as a creative force in the music industry.��
In 2011, Campanelli's talents were recognized on a grand scale when he was nominated for a Latin Grammy, an event held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. This nomination was a testament to his dedication and the unique style he brings to his music.��
Campanelli's distinct sound is characterized by a blend of 70’s salsa, yesterday’s swing, and contemporary influences, resulting in a fresh and vibrant musical experience. His four salsa albums, "Salsa Como Debe Ser," "Modestia Aparte," "Alma de Rumbero," and "Nos Curamos Con La Rumba," are a celebration of old-school salsa, a genre he believes possesses an eternal quality. Through these albums, he pays homage to the timeless nature of salsa music, which he passionately advocates for its ability to convey deep emotion and connect with listeners on a profound level.��
His contributions to the genre continue to resonate, keeping the spirit of classic salsa alive and relevant in the modern era. His work is filled with passion and soul, reflecting his belief that After all, music is not only about what you hear; it’s about what you feel.
