The final instalment of the Rogue’s Driven Bow Fiddle Festival!Kristian and Ruthie first met each other in the Danish folk music circles in the mid-1990’s. He then studied with Ruthie while she guest-taught at the Carl Nielsen Academy of Music in Odense, Denmark. Almost a decade later, the pair met again in Seattle. They formed the trio 3 Fiddlers 3 Traditions with métis fiddler Jamie Fox. Then, the summer of 2025 marked a new chapter in their collaboration and friendship as they began touring and recording as a duo for the first time!
Their repertoire spans from Danish traditional fiddle tunes and music from the other Nordic countries to old-time American and original tunes, spiced with a few Venezuelan waltzes. Expect everything from wild polkas and jigs to lyrical waltzes, fiery reels, and happy hopsas, all served with humor and stories from their many years on the road.
Seattle-based fiddler Ruthie Dornfeld, has performed and taught for over thirty years at festivals, schools, music and dance camps throughout the U.S. and abroad. Kristian Bugge (fiddle) is very active in the Danish and Scandinavian folk music scenes, both as a musician and teacher. Kristian specializes in the strong Danish folk music traditions, playing with groups like Jensen & Bugge, Morten Alfred & Vingården, Baltic Crossing and Gangspil.

Allison de Groot has performed at the Newport Folk Festival, Celtic Connections, Rockygrass, Hardly Strictly, Winnipeg Folk Festival, and Tønder Festival. A graduate of the Berklee College of Music, her album with Tatiana Hargreaves won Best Bluegrass Album from the Independent Music Awards and was nominated for Liner Notes of the Year at the International Bluegrass Music Association awards.
