**Parade Route:**
• Starts at Napoleon Avenue & Magazine Street
• Proceeds north to St. Charles Avenue (right turn)
• Follows St. Charles around Lee Circle to Canal Street
• Turns right on Canal, ending at Chartres Street
**About Krewe of Proteus:**
Founded in 1882, Proteus is named after the prophetic old man of the sea in Greek mythology – the shepherd of the sea's flocks and a subject of Poseidon who could tell the future and change his shape.
**Traditional Features:**
• King's identity is never revealed to the public
• King's float is a magnificent giant seashell
• Floats still use original 1880s chassis – true Carnival heritage!

• 60-inch red-and-white pearl bead necklaces
• Plastic tridents
• Poly-stone medallions
**Parade Details:**
• 20 traditional floats
• 230 male riders
