About this Event
Step into Seoul’s sizzling street markets without leaving Columbus in this hands-on, flavor-charged class led by Chef Po Cambo. Korean street food is bold, fiery, and wildly addictive—a perfect balance of crunch, spice, and comfort that keeps people lining up long after midnight. In this class, you’ll dive into three iconic dishes that define the pulse of Korea’s food culture, all while learning the techniques that make them unforgettable.
Start with Yangnyeom Chicken, Korea’s famous double-fried chicken that’s achieved cult status worldwide. You’ll learn how to achieve the perfect golden crust—light, crisp, and audibly crunchy—before tossing each piece in a glossy, sticky glaze of gochujang, garlic, soy, and honey. The result is a sweet, spicy, and savory masterpiece that might just ruin regular fried chicken for you forever.
Next, balance the richness with Danmuji, quick-pickled daikon radish that’s bright, tangy, and refreshing. This simple side dish is found in nearly every Korean restaurant for a reason—it cuts through heavy flavors, resets your palate, and adds an electric pop of color to the table. You’ll make your own from scratch and learn how to customize the brine with your preferred acidity and sweetness.
Finally, tackle Tteokbokki, the ultimate Korean comfort food. These chewy rice cakes are bathed in a deep-red sauce made with gochujang and a touch of sugar for balance. You’ll simmer and stir until the sauce coats each bite, adjusting the spice level to your liking. Add-ons like fish cakes, boiled eggs, or melted cheese turn this dish into a street-food masterpiece.
Chef Po will share the stories behind these dishes—from the origin of Seoul’s fried chicken craze to how Tteokbokki evolved from a royal palace dish to a street vendor staple. You’ll walk away with not only a deeper understanding of Korean flavors but also the confidence to recreate them in your own kitchen.
