Koplikandi Hikes is excited to invite you on a food tour that will satisfy your taste buds and quench your thirst for (food) history, taking you from Balti Jaam Market to Kopli district and surprising you with many hidden taste experiences! The tour begins at the Balti Jaam market next to the Old Town of Tallinn. The market stalls and kiosks offer a wide range of goods, from fresh local produce to international street food. We will taste the guides' favourites found on the stalls and share some excellent market stories!
Then the tram will take us towards the Sitsi area, where the new Manufaktuuri district is being built, and with it, new and old good food places. We will sample some highly praised places, some local favourites, and some authentic pies and beers from places you have never heard of. We will also point out other eateries worth discovering (or not).
The next tram ride takes us to the end of Kopli, where we can finally clarify the difference between kebab and shashlik. The food tour finds a worthy point in one of the pulsating hearts of Kopli - the Põhjala factory, which houses Tallinn's smallest, yet certainly the coolest microbrewery, as well as at least three different coffee roasters and a Michelin-listed restaurant.
In addition to food and drink, you will hear stories about food preparation then and now, tales of the terrible and friendly Kopli, the history of food in Estonia and several recommendations for both meals and experiences.
Koplikandi Hikes guides have conducted tours in the area for the past 5 years. Both guides are food enthusiasts, love history and some excellent coffee.
Reviews:
Even as an expat who has lived in Tallinn for years, I learned so many new things on the Kopli food tour (about food, history, and juicy stories). The food was incredible. I was so full but I couldn’t stop trying the delicious foods and drinks. And even as a vegetarian, I had more than enough to eat. Our guides Hannele and Liine brought culinary history to life through their personal and family stories. I can’t recommend the Kopli food tour enough! - Jae (Google Reviews)
I participated to the tour, hoping to have a good time while eating good food. I didn't expect to learn so much about the history of the city and it's life. Both Hannele and Liine are troves of informations, anecdotes and history. Their passion sipped through every minute, making this tour a memorable experience. Please come with a empty belly and a thirst for knowledge as you'll be perfectly served. 11/10. – Clément
