Urodzona na maleńkiej wyspie Guernsey w portugalskiej rodzinie, brytyjska piosenkarka i autorka tekstów Nessi Gomes wykorzystuje wpływy z obu stron swojego pochodzenia etnicznego, łącząc esencję tradycyjnej, emocjonalnej i "większej niż życie" muzyki ludowej Fado z inspiracjami współczesną muzyką brytyjską.
Diamonds & Demons to debiutancki album brytyjsko-portugalskiego muzyka Nessi Gomes. Zawarte na nim opowieści o mroku i świetle pozwalają na głębszą eksplorację ludzkiej kondycji, psychiki, zbiorowych lęków i udręk.
Choć większość życia spędziła na Wyspach Normandzkich, punkt zwrotny w muzycznej ekspresji Nessi nastąpił sześć lat temu, kiedy mieszkała w Ameryce Środkowej. Lata spędzone z dala od domu wstrząsnęły jej światem i na nowo ukształtowały jej pisarstwo. Odeszła od bardziej oczywistych tematów miłości, straty i złamanych serc na rzecz bezwzględnego zgłębiania swojej wewnętrznej geografii, niepewności, piękna i światła, które tam odnalazła.
Jej ciekawy i emocjonalny głos zaczął odzwierciedlać brutalnie szczery portret wewnętrznego świata, w którym cienie i nadzieja, zdrowy rozsądek i szaleństwo tańczą magicznie razem; gdzie tajemnice są odkrywane.
W ciągu tych 18 miesięcy kedy pracowała nad swoim debutanckim albumem dołączyło do nich kilku uznanych muzyków, którzy jeden po drugim ubarwiali muzykę ogromnym talentem. Wśród nich znaleźli się: skrzypaczka klasyczna Viktoria Mullova, wiolonczelista modern classical Matthew Barley, dziecko indie, Cosmo Sheldrake, wokalista folkowy Sam Lee, wschodzący talent jazzowy Misha Mullov-Abbado, niemiecki mistrz gitary Rainer Scheurenbrand, gitarzysta elektryczny Dave Randall (Faithless) i czarodziej techniki Nigel Butler.
Razem ta supergrupa stworzyła delikatną mozaikę, szepcząc czarodziejskie opowieści o mroku i świetle, co zaowocowało nostalgiczną, progresywną i szczegółową produkcją - unikalnym projektem muzycznym, który przypomina wokalne czarownice Zachodu, takie jak Kate Bush i Bjork, jednocześnie nawiązując do portugalskich korzeni Gomesa.
JEJ muzyka ukazuje autentyczne i szczere poszukiwanie światła, głębi, nadziei i prawdy. Jest to poszukiwanie sztuki, miłości i zaufania. Seria misternie dopracowanych, nawiedzających atmosferę i bujnie teksturowanych avant-ballad. Born on the tiny island of Guernsey to a Portuguese family, British singer-songwriter Nessi Gomes draws on influences from both sides of her ethnic background, combining the essence of traditional, emotional and 'larger than life' Fado folk music with influences from contemporary British music.
Diamonds & Demons is the debut album by British-Portuguese musician Nessi Gomes. Its tales of darkness and light allow for a deeper exploration of the human condition, the psyche, collective fears and anguish.
Although she has spent most of her life in the Channel Islands, the turning point in Nessi's musical expression came six years ago when she lived in Central America. The years away from home rocked her world and reshaped her writing. She moved away from the more obvious themes of love, loss and heartbreak to a ruthless exploration of her inner geography, the uncertainty, beauty and light she found there.
Her quirky and emotional voice began to reflect a brutally honest portrait of an inner world where shadows and hope, sanity and madness dance magically together; where secrets are revealed.
During the 18 months that they worked on their debut album, they were joined by several acclaimed musicians who, one by one, embellished the music with their immense talent. Among them were classical violinist Viktoria Mullova, modern classical cellist Matthew Barley, indie child Cosmo Sheldrake, folk singer Sam Lee, emerging jazz talent Misha Mullov-Abbado, German guitar master Rainer Scheurenbrand, electric guitarist Dave Randall (Faithless) and technical wizard Nigel Butler.
Together, this supergroup has created a delicate mosaic, whispering lurid tales of darkness and light, resulting in a nostalgic, progressive and detailed production - a unique musical project that recalls the vocal witches of the West, such as Kate Bush and Bjork, while harking back to Gomes' Portuguese roots.
HER music shows an authentic and sincere search for light, depth, hope and truth. It is a search for art, love and trust. A series of intricately detailed, hauntingly atmospheric and lushly textured avant-ballads. It fulfils Nessi's desire to deeply touch and shake audiences, to move and shift something within them, to speak of the uncomfortable so it can pass, and to reveal and sing the human experience in its fullest expression.
