Propletené životy Anny-Evy Bergman (1909–1987) a Hanse Hartunga (1904–1989) jsou v dějinách uměleckých párů dvacátého století jedinečné. Jejich společná životní dráha obsáhla první setkání v Paříži ve 20. letech 20. století, odloučení v roce 1937, druhou světovou válku a konečné shledání v roce 1952. Navzdory své blízkosti zůstali stylově naprosto svébytní a navzájem si neustále precizovali své umělecké přístupy.
Právě tuhle souhru odlišností a podobností výstava zkoumá. Bergman a Hartung úzce sdílí inspirační zdroje: přírodní živly, daleké končiny vesmíru a jazyk hudby. Každý z nich je ale interpretuje nenapodobitelným způsobem. Přestože jsou jejich díla ve své podstatě rozdílná, jejich cesty se často protínají a vytvářejí sdílený prostor – místo, kde mohou společně žít prostřednictvím malby.

The intertwined lives of Anna-Eva Bergman (1909–1987) and Hans Hartung (1904–1989) are unique in the history of twentieth-century artist couples. Their shared journey encompassed their first meeting in Paris in the 1920s, separation in 1937, the Second World War, and their reunion in 1952. Despite their closeness, each maintained a completely distinct style, constantly refining their artistic approaches in relation to one another.
It is precisely this interplay of difference and similarity that the exhibition explores. Bergman and Hartung drew inspiration from the same sources: the forces of nature, the far reaches of the cosmos, and the language of music. Yet each interpreted them in an unmistakably individual way. While their works are fundamentally different, their paths intersected time and again, creating a shared space where they could live together through painting.
