About this Event
The Kombos Collective, a chamber ensemble championing the rich musical repertoire of Greece and the Greek diaspora, celebrates the centennial of beloved composer Manos Hadjidakis with a program of his songs and piano works. The music trio features Katerina Clambaneva on vocals, Ellie Falaris Ganelin on flute, and Mary-Victoria Voutsas on piano.
Manos Hadjidakis, born in Xanthi, Greece on October 23, 1925, is considered one of modern Greece’s greatest composers. He transformed the seemingly lower-class rebetika and popular music into a respected art form by combining folk and classical styles.
“For audiences, this is a journey both of discovery by the ears and recognition by the heart.”—Jeff Kaliss, San Francisco Classical Voice
