'Koko does Jazz' is Singer/Songwriter Kachina Lewis performing with some of South Coasts finest Jazz players. This dynamic quintet began in 2021 after Kachina plunged back into the realm of Jazz and Blues after a subtle push by Doreen from 'Illawarra Jazz Club' who was a great fan of Kachina's work.
Kachina aka Lady K is well known throughout the music scene as a soulful, vibrant songbird. She has opened the stage for international artists (KLF, C&C Music Factory, Wanda Dee, Snap, 112, Allure, De La Soul, Miguel Migs and many more) and sang at many prestigious venues across the country and overseas.
Kachina began vocal jazz training with Sydney Jazz Vocal teacher Alan Dean on the North Shore, she began singing and performing at just 16yrs at Sydney Harbour Casino in a Calypso Caribbean Band, 'Sand Bars'. Kachina has performed at The Basement, The Metro, The Vanguard, Enmore Theatre, Festival Hall in Melbourne, The National Press Club of Australia, Merringong Theatre, Heritage Hotel and at many other venues.

Kachina has sang and toured with band ‘Modernists’, a 12 piece Funk, Jazz and Soul Band for which she co-wrote original song 'Summer Jive'
The band features fine and talented musicians; Kelvin Haisman on keys with bright and impressive chords and solos, a sprightly Mark Holderkeeping on Sax adding vibrant sounds and charismatic solos, Bertie McMahon bringing a depth, body and mood on Double Bass and last but by no means least *SPECIAL GUEST drummer Troy Lever driving compelling rhythms adding complexity and precision all whilst Kachinas voice floats smoothly over and under the grooves and layers.
This Jazz band plays the classics we all know and love such as Nina Simone, Amy Winehouse, Peggy Lee, Billy Holiday, Shirley Horn, Etta James, Anita O’Day, Bobby Darin, John Lee Hooker, Mitty Collier, Herbie Hancock, Big Mama Thornton, Chet Baker, Nat King Cole, Sade & more.
