Be Bright Coffee on Melrose proudly presents our 2024 US Barista Championship Tasting Experience. This year, Frank La took first place at the US Barista Championship and was crowned the champion and national ambassador at the World Barista Championship that was held in Busan, South Korea in May earlier this year.
To celebrate with our community and share the experience of the winning drinks, we will be hosting a tasting experience, seating available at 11am, 1230pm, and 2pm on every Saturday in July only! Each seating is limited to four seats and will be 1 hour long. For $95, each person will get to try 5 courses: the three same beverages made in the competition (espresso, milk course, signature beverage), along with a pour over and cold brew of the competition coffee. Each person will also take home a 30g dose of the competition beans.
Frank La competed with an Ombligon variety from Huila, Colombia. The world-renowned producer Nestor Lasso from Finca El Diviso uses anaerobic fermentation, yeast inoculation, thermal shock, and controlled drying to masterfully produce this coffee, bursting with notes of tart cherry juicy, watermelon candy, raspberry, and dark chocolate.
As a straight coffee, guests will be able to experience the Ombligon as a pour over, espresso, and cold brew.
For the milk course, the Ombligon is expressed against a canvas of lactose-free, freeze distrilled, evaporated milk to bring new notes of raspberry cheesecake, butterscotch, and strawberry malt.
For the signature beverage, we see the flavors of the espresso transform to notes of finger-lime, white grapefruit, and ginger ale from using ingredients like a clarified coffee milk punch, red seedless grape “cheong”, and Ombligon coffee sacchrum.
