Course Description:

What is the reason that TMDs happen after dental procedures? Do we really know the patient’s TMJ complex baseline before a dental procedure? How to adjust your restoration plan to fit the patient’s TMJ complex status? How to manage common TMDs in a dental office? The knowledge and clinical skill will help you to avoid unnecessary complaints after your dental procedure, such as myalgia, arthralgia,neuralgia or chewing dysfunction.

Meet the Speaker: Yang Gu (Hon)BSc, DDS, MSc (ORTHO) FRCD(C)

Dr. Yang Gu has worked in teaching, private practice, and research at dental schools in China and Canada for more than 20 years. She is currently the director of the Oral Pathology Clinic and an oral pathologist and assistant professor at Dalhousie University for the last three years. She has served as a peer reviewer for the Triple O Journal and BJSTR.

Course Topics & Objectives: 

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

1) Anatomy and neurophysiology of Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Complex

2) How to know your patient’s TMJ complex status? What is the cause-and-effect correlation?

3) Common Temporomandibular Joint Disorders (TMDs) and their diagnostic criteria

4) Management guidelines and the appropriate usage of oral appliances.

REGISTRATION CANCELLATION: Tuition is refundable if a course is canceled by  the Office of CE. A $50 fee will be assessed for any course  cancellation.  All payments by check or cash are deposited into the Texas A&M University account  and CANNOT be refunded.  “No Shows” for a course  forfeit all tuition. Confirm notification of cancellation by e-mail. The CE Office cannot be held responsible for a  non-refundable airline ticket.
