Hello, dear book lovers.
I think this time around, I am going to give you a purely personal perspective on the theme. I don't think I have ever done do.
When I was a child, I must have been between 12 and 13, I discovered a set of similar books on my grandmother's bookshelf from a collection on the Biographies of Great Men - although there were some in the collection about women as well, I remember clearly the one about Doctor Curie and the vivid descriptions of her research and the way her office was still radioactive today. I started with the one about Alexander the Great, and I was hoked. I read all the books my grandmother had from the collections, and then kept nagging my father to buy me more.
These books clearly marked my childhood and my literary habits. Nowadays, I realize that many - if not all of them - were highly sensationalistic, still, when you are a child, this is probably the way to keep your attention. I am glad I have read them, and I am glad I have got to know a more realistic view on those people I have read about in my later years,
So, the premise for our meeting, this time around, is simple: Bring a biography. It might be an autobiography, authorized, unauthorized... We don't judge, just bring something you like or that left a mark on you.
