This event is open to everyone.
Welcome to Open Rope Night by Shibari_is_the_way! If you are joining us for the first time, we encourage you to try to come when the doors open (6 PM); we do a quick introduction near the beginning and can help you show some basics at the start of the event. Also, the information below is particularly for you.
What is a Rope Open Practice? An open practice is not a formal class or workshop, it's a bunch of people getting together to tie, chat about rope work, and share tips and techniques in a relaxed, informal environment. You don't need to bring a partner - since we are learning rather than actually playing, we won't all necessarily stick to our usual roles: tops may volunteer to demo bottom, and bottoms may want to try their hands at tying.

Who can come?
Anyone who is 18 or older and interested in Shibari is welcome to attend.
If I come, can I get tied up?
Maybe. Our Open Practices are like dances - we provide the venue, but we don't provide partners. However, there are often others there who are looking for someone to tie. If you make friends with them and ask nicely, it may happen - but obviously, we can make no guarantees.
Do I need to bring rope?
It's not an absolute requirement, but if you like to tie or want to learn, then we would recommend bringing some rope with you or Purchasing rope at the event - being able to practice will let you get more out of the experience. It doesn't have to be fancy, expensive rope, though.
Rules: Don't touch anyone else, or anyone else's stuff, without asking first. (We are all about consent.) Don't wear perfumes/colognes/strong scents. (Some folks are sensitive.) Be respectful of the beautiful space and other attendees. Only take pictures if you have the consent of everyone in the frame (including other people’s identifiable things).
