Feeling comfortable with basic Knit and Purl stitches? Try a new fun pattern that is also practical ~ a cozy, stretchy headband that stays in place! In this beginner-friendly class, you'll learn how to cast on and knit short rows using straight needles to create a warm, simple headband with a button closure. All supplies are provided, but feel free to bring your own special button if you have one. If you don’t finish your headband during class, we’ll show you how to complete the edge at home. You’re also welcome to bring it to a Sip & Stitch Saturday session for additional guidance.
Participants will take home a pair of straight knitting needles, a skein of chunky yarn (enough to make a second headband), and a button to finish the project. The completed headband will measure approximately 20 inches around the head and 5 inches wide.
***Prerequisite: You must have taken an Intro to Knitting class at 577 to join this class, or have special permission from the instructor.

Community Instructor: Annie Johnson
Annie grew up in an arts & crafts household, learning to crochet at 7 and knit at 14. She has honed most of her knowledge through trial and error, observation, and decades of repetition. She has been teaching for over 10 years and loves to share the joy of fiber crafts with anyone interested, from preschool to retired. Her favorite parts of teaching are witnessing a student's ah-ha moment and seeing them explore the hobby in their own way.
