Josh O’Connor stars as a wannabe criminal who fumbles a small-time art robbery in Reichardt’s ingenious evocation of 1970s suburban Massachusetts. Failed architect James Blaine Mooney and cohorts wander into a museum in broad daylight and steal four paintings. When holding onto the art proves more difficult than stealing them, Mooney is relegated to a life on the run.
Nominated for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival film last year, the film is more than just humorous romp, it is also a quiet evisceration of entitlement, and reflects back to our current era and moral dilemmas and the need to do more than stand by have reached an unignorable pitch.
