Sharpen your technique—and your confidence—with this hands-on knife skills workshop taught by Amy Schroeder of Cangshan Cutlery. With over 20 years of experience in the housewares industry (including 16+ years with Zwilling Henckels), Amy brings both expertise and a friendly, no-pressure teaching style to the cutting board.
Whether you’re a seasoned home cook or just getting started, this class will give you practical skills you can use every day—from faster, more consistent prep to safer slicing techniques.
What You’ll Learn:
- Knife Grip & Control: Master the pinch grip for precision and safety
- Essential Techniques: Slice celery, dice an onion, mince parsley, fillet an orange
- Specialty Cuts: Chiffonade basil, guided serrated cutting tomatoes
- Advanced Skills (if time allows): Julienne a potato like a pro
- Knife Care & Maintenance: Sharpening, honing, cleaning & storing your knives
- Choosing the Right Knife: When (and why) to use a chef's, paring, serrated, or fillet knife
Format:
This is a hands-on workshop in a small, casual group setting. Amy will demo each technique, then guide you as you practice with your own cutting board and tools. Plenty of time will be built in for questions, one-on-one guidance, and fun conversation.
