Join us on the weekend of 7 and 8 December 2024 for a wonderful festive event in the picturesque North Yorkshire market town of Knaresborough, with quality stalls, independent shops, live musical entertainment, free park and ride and a spectacular firework finale at 4.30pm on the Sunday.Explore the High Street and busy shopping areas surrounding the market – full of independent shops offering speciality items and a warm Yorkshire welcome.
Discover the delightful Castlegate area. Here you will find a wide range of independent shops and businesses and the wonderfully quirky Green Dragon Yard.
Witness the famous viaduct river view from the historic castle ruins, visit the Courthouse Museum and new Knaresborough Heritage Centre (opposite the bus station), take the fun town window trail or simply enjoy a stroll along Waterside.
From the Market Place, follow Kirkgate or the High Street down to the train station and onwards to the stunning Christmas Tree Festival at St John’s Church, with over 70 beautifully decorated trees.
The event is organised by Knaresborough Rotary, Knaresborough & District Chamber and Knaresborough Lions.

GETTING THERE AND AWAY
Located just a few miles from Harrogate in North Yorkshire, the historic market town of Knaresborough is easily accessible by road, rail or bus. The town is less than 5 miles from the A1 and is connected to national transport routes via regular trains from Leeds and York.

PARKING
A FREE Park and Ride service is available all weekend from the GSPK car park on Manse Lane (HG5 8LF) to the Chapel Street next to the Market Square Additional paid parking is available at Chapel Street, Fisher Street and York Place. Parking is limited close to the Market Square due to road closures. We therefore strongly advise using the Park and Ride if at all possible. This runs from 8am - 5.30pm on both days. There are 7KW EV charging points located in Chapel Street Short Stay car park.

The Park and Ride buses are single deckers with the usual access for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Knaresborough is served by regular buses to and from Harrogate. These leave from the bus station next to the Market Square. The number 36 then provides onward travel to Ripon and Leeds. There are regular train services to and from York and Leeds. Leeds trains run every 30 minutes and York trains run every hour. Find out more at www.northernrailway.co.uk.

ATMS & CASH ACCESS
There are two ATMs in Knaresborough; one at Sainsbury’s Local by the bus station and another one at Tesco Express on the High Street. Some stalls will accept cards, but you are advised to bring plenty of cash with you.
In addition, the new Knaresborough Banking Hub, located at the top of Kirkgate (down the side of Six Poor Folk), has agreed to open its counter services during the Christmas Market. Covering most banks, this service will allow residents, businesses and market traders to access cash over the counter between 9am - 5pm on both Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 December.
There is also a One Banx machine located in Knaresborough Library (open 9.30am - 1.30pm on the Saturday only). However, visitors will need to have the One Banx app and their own mobile banking app installed on their phone to use it.

FIREWORK FINALE (SUNDAY)
There will be a firework display at 4.30pm on Sunday, which can be seen from any viewpoint which overlooks the river area. Pet owners please note that the display lasts for about 15 minutes.
