The Sleeping Forest: Identifying Trees Without Their Leaves
Date: March 1, 2025
Location: Ken Reid Conservation Area, Lindsay
Time: 10am - 12pm
Capacity: 30
Audience: Family-friendly
Description: Bundle up and enjoy the stark winter beauty of the forest at Kawartha Conservation’s Ken Reid Conservation Area while learning to identify trees without leaves. From buds, bark, shape, and other clues, we will explore the many distinctions present in the sleeping forest to help identify different kinds of trees. A simple identification key will be provided to all participants for use during the hike and can be taken home where you can continue to practise your new skills! Bring binoculars, if you have them, and dress warmly for the weather to join us for a leisurely hike among the trees.
Facilitators: Sam Clapperton, Kawartha Land Trust and Joel Grandmont, D.M. Wills Associates Limited
