Kiwanis Chili Cook off/Fall Fest is an organized event by the Kiwanis Club of Columbia and Columbia Main Street (CMS). The Kiwanis Club of Columbia’s Chili Cook off raises funds for local children’s charities, with the primary beneficiary this year being Maury County Schools through the Youth Education Foundation https://www.yefmaury.com/
TIME AND DATE: FallFest event will be held on September 28, 2024, from 2 – 8 pm in downtown Columbia, Tennessee. The chili cook off will be held from 3 – 5.
OPERATIONS
Booth spaces are approximately 10 ft wide and 17ft deep and are located in assigned parking spots located in the southwest corner of the Square from Taps Off Main to Lily Janes, and across the street in front of the Courthouse, as well as the northwest corner of the Square where the County offices are located. (SEE MAP). All competitors must provide their tables, chairs, and display materials. Pop-up tents are accepted if they are the correct sizes (see general guidelines). Power will be available. Any extension cords must be securely taped to the sidewalk. Sidewalks must be free from tripping hazards. All booths will be assigned.
Set-Up Time: 12:00 noon
Competitors can pull into the parking spots behind the courthouse to unload but must move their car to another parking space before the event.
GENERAL GUIDELINES:
Competitor Requirements and Suggestions:
• Prepare a minimum of Five Gallons of chili.
• A team can be from 1 to 4 people.
• All competitors will be responsible for their equipment and supplies to set up a booth.
• All pop-up tents must be 10x10 or smaller to fit appropriately within the competitor’s space. If tent does not fit the guidelines, CMS/Kiwanis will ask for the removal of the tent.
• Competitors are asked to stay for the entire duration of the event, 3-5 pm.
• 2 Folding tables (1 for serving, 1 for preparing chili if preparing onsite)
• Yard chairs for your chili team to sit in under the tent
• Crock pot or cookware (if cooking onsite) –Whatever you choose to keep your chili warm! If you are cooking the chili on site, you may set up no earlier than noon on the day of the event. No open flames allowed.
• Extension Cords; suggest a minimum of 100 feet.
• Tablecloth, ladles, spoon rest, napkins/paper towels
• Hand Sanitizer
• Condiment bowls and serving utensils (if you are serving garnishes with your chili)
• Apron (if desired)
• Competitors are responsible for the actions of their representatives, employees, or agents.
• Tasting cups and spoons will be provided by the Kiwanis Club

JUDGING
There will be five local chefs/chili aficionados judging the chili in a blind taste test. They will be tasting between 3:00 and 3:30 before you run out of chili!!

Housekeeping:
All spaces must be cleaned at the end of the event. Competitors are responsible for the removal of trash at the end of the event.
