Kitty Macfarlane & Jack Rutter | Bristol Folk Festival
Join us for the Sunday Night concert of Bristol Folk Festival with two of folk's fastest rising stars.
Kitty Macfarlane
Kitty Macfarlane is a captivating songwriter & guitarist from Somerset, whose music is a trademark tonic for the times we're in.
Sustained by the warm glow of her new band, her songs act as both balm & booster for a world on fire.
From the starling murmurations of the Somerset Levels to the lowly eel’s epic transatlantic migration & the small part we play in a much bigger picture, her songs, old are new, are bound by the underlying theme of mankind’s relationship with the wild.
Kitty balances a lightness of spirit with weighty stories - held together by the exhilarating clarity of her voice, empathic songwriting & heady musicianship.
Her debut Namer Of Clouds was one of The Guardian’s Best Folk Albums of 2018, and has been played BBC Radio 2, 3, 4 and 6 Music. Last year she was invited to guest-present two episodes of BBC Radio 4’s Tweet of the Day and Kitty performed live in session on BBC Radio 2 at the beginning of 2019.
“Macfarlane’s vocal style is easy, tuneful and ‘in the tradition’.. but what sets her work apart is her affinity with the natural world and some startlingly poetic lyrics… Delightful” The Observer
FATEA Female Artist of the Year 2018
"Smooth & believable" - Iggy Pop, BBC 6Music
"Remarkably accomplished" - The Guardian
