Kitty Crimes is the unapologetic alter ego of Denver-derived artist Midas MSL, a bold performer whose sound shapeshifts between rap, pop, and alternative. In one breath, the music can reference Britney Spears or Peaches, and in the next, Kendrick Lamar or Death Grips - always with a glossy, storefront sheen that conceals deeper layers of vulnerability, sorrow, sexuality, and yearning.
As a queer artist, identity naturally informs Crimes’ work - but never defines its limits. Their music holds more to say: a restless refusal to play small, a demand for space that’s both confrontational and deeply human.
Their live shows have built a reputation for fearless stage presence and magnetic energy, leading to support slots with an eclectic roster of artists including Tennis, DeVotchKa, Andrew W.K., Cupcakke, and Big Freedia.
The last full release, HILUX, was a coming-of-age EP that distilled Crimes’ raw and experimental impulses into refined storytelling. Now, Kitty Crimes returns with their most ambitious project yet: a full-length album titled STOP PLAYING SMALL WEIRDO - a reverse-psyop declaration of power and strangeness. The first singles, “Small Fry” and “Hi Evil Girl 222,” mark the start of a new chapter: bold, unapologetic, and impossible to ignore.
