Imagine you and your friends are hanging out in the kitchen, dodging around the cook and the open oven, sampling the cooking sherry. Then someone strikes up a reel and your feet start tapping… Irish kitchen dances are fun, informal, spirited dances that folks could easily dance in the confines of a kitchen. They are two-hand dances done to a variety of tune types such as reels, hornpipes, flings, and waltzes. Come learn a half dozen of these dances at a workshop aimed at building an awareness of rhythm, footwork, posture, and context for Ireland's lesser-known vernacular dances.
