We’ll gather to connect through music, to connect to our own voice, the voices of others, and of the instruments. We’ll start the session with some voice opening exercises to warm up, and to help ourselves to communicate better, and to articulate our thoughts and emotions. This isnt a singing class. It’s more like using music as medicine, to connect to the self, to the power of your voice, and experience joy through the sounds.
Your shyness is welcome, your loudness is welcome, your passion and joy, and love is welcome! Come as you are.
Looking forward to welcoming and connecting with you all!
Kirtan is a traditional form of devotional music that originates from the Indian subcontinent, particularly within the Bhakti yoga tradition. It involves the call-and-response chanting or singing of sacred mantras, names of deities, or spiritual verses.
Typically, a lead singer or musician sings a line or verse, and the audience responds by repeating it. The music is often accompanied by instruments.
Kirtan is more than just music; it's a meditative and communal practice that aims to elevate consciousness, foster a sense of unity, and create a deep spiritual connection among participants. The repetition of mantras or divine names in kirtan is believed to purify the mind and open the heart, making it a powerful tool for spiritual growth and inner peace.
