Join us for a soul-soothing evening filled with sacred chants and healing sounds that will transport you to a place of peace and tranquility
About this Event

Join us for an uplifting evening of kirtan and sound healing designed to quiet the mind, open the heart, and connect you to the peace within.

Kirtan is a form of call-and-response chanting that blends music and mantra to awaken spiritual joy. It invites us to sing from the heart rather than perform from the mind, creating a beautiful atmosphere of unity and devotion. If you're new to kirtan, come and try it out!
You’ll be guided by Brian Sweet (harmonium, vocals), Shane Lasby (guitar, vocals), and William Brandt (sound healing instruments) as they weave together heartfelt chants, soothing sounds, and moments of stillness.
No singing experience is needed — just an open heart. Singing together naturally activates the vagus nerve, calming the nervous system and promoting a deep sense of relaxation and wellbeing. Many participants describe feeling lighter, more centered, and deeply connected both inwardly and with the community around them.
Come as you are and allow the power of sound, breath, and shared intention to restore balance and harmony within.

Flow:

Most of the time, we sit on cushions on the floor at Evolve Academy. There are chairs available if that is more comfortable for you. You are also invited to bring your own cushion or blanket to sit on as well as a closed-lid water bottle.

BRIAN SWEET:
For Brian Sweet, music has become a powerful doorway to the sacred—a kind of medicine for the heart. Through sound and song, he invites others to release, surrender, and rediscover the peace and joy within. When Brian discovered kirtan and the harmonium, it transformed his life, feeling like a true homecoming. Through chanting, he found a divine healing that arises not from striving but from allowing—one that has helped him release trapped energy and open his heart to deeper joy. Brian shares this devotional practice with gratitude and hopes it will be as life-giving for others as it has been for him.
SHANE LASBY:

For over two decades, Shane Lasby has shared the spirit of Bhakti through music as a YOGI, guitarist, songwriter, and longtime member of The JAIS. His sound blends traditional Sanskrit mantra with modern, atmospheric textures created through layered guitar effects, inviting listeners into a meditative and heart-opening space. Influenced by Krishna Das, Bhagavan Das, Shyam Das, Trevor Hall, Prema Hara, and others, Shane’s music bridges devotion and contemporary sound. With 25 years of yoga practice and two Yoga Teacher Trainings, his path reflects a deep integration of yoga, music, and spiritual expression. Each performance is an offering—an invitation to awaken the divine within through rhythm, mantra, and sacred sound.

WILLIAM BRANDT:

William says, "I embarked on the path of incorporating sound therapy into my wellness regimen after experiencing burnout and fatigue in my demanding professional IT career. My first sound healing experience left me in awe. I was astounded by the transformative and rejuvenated effects I found, and eventually found myself acquiring my own set of crystal bowls, allowing me to incorporate sound therapy into my regular routine. Combined with Yoga and meditation, I experienced stress relief and began finding it easier to practice mindfulness and embrace the flow of life. I have always prioritized holistic wellness: encompassing the realms of physical, mental, and spiritual health. During a sound therapy session I can’t help but pause, reflect, and breathe deeply."
