About this Event
Join us for an hours walk through this historic and modern market. Meet by the M&S Clock, in the 1904 Hall.
Here's how food critic Grace Dent describes Kirkgate Market; it " is a joyful thing, and an unusual one. Old-school butchers and fishmongers, clothes stalls and spice vendors live happily side by side with Vietnamese banh mi sellers, a florist and a woman who sells knitting wool."
It's considered of local, national and international importance. The 1904 Hall has been called, "one of the finest examples of market hall architecture", by the US historians Schmiechen and Carls.
The tour contains uneven surfaces, steps, and heights. It is possible to avoid these features. Please mention any concerns to the guide.
Tour by workerslunchtime.com. We do walks and food tours in and around the market for individuals, families, community groups and workplaces. Contact: Rob 07947 653700
