Join us in the beautiful King's Forest for our first event of 2025, located near Bury St Edmunds.King's Forest was named to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of King George V and Queen Mary and is truly a magical place.
Home to fallow, red, roe and muntjac deer as well as foxes and an abundance of bird wildlife. The chalky soil supports a prolific flower population including Wild Thyme, Bird's Foot Trefoil and numerous butterflies, such as Dingy Skipper and Brown Argus.
Planted in typical East Anglian coniferous blocks dispersed with deciduous windbreaks and scattered with deep disused sand and marl pits, brashings and tussocky long grass, King Forest promises some fast and interesting orienteering challenges.
There is a choice of courses from white to brown and we welcome newcomers to the event, with plenty of help on hand to get you started. Just ask at the help desk on arrival.
REGIONAL & EAST ANGLIAN SCHOOLS LEAGUE
East Anglian Schools Orienteering League (EASOL) events are open to all young people of school age in the catchment areas of SOS, SUFFOC, WAOC, HAVOC, NOR and SMOC clubs. You don’t need your school to be involved in orienteering, you just need to make sure when you enter that you add your school name, the year group you are in and enter the correct course for your year group. Late entry (from 10th Feb to 14th Feb) and entry on day (subject to map availability)
