COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Alex offers practical ideas using suspension and non-suspension equipment to implement treatment interventions in the clinic, at school or at home. Hands on interventions to support breath, coordination, timing, balance, strength will be presented. Modifications, adaptions and grading of activities will be addressed to support best possible outcomes. Ideas for better engagement of the child will be addressed as well as discussion of ways to facilitate "play" for a stronger therapist-child relationship. This dynamic workshop will support participants through hands on learning as they experience the activities in their own bodies. Lastly, Alex will discuss how to create their own sensory equipment at a minimal cost.
OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the workshop learners will be able to: Understand the importance of vestibular, proprioceptive, and tactile integration as it relates to postural development, balance, and physical development. Participate in and generate ideas & activities that support sensory development. Create effective sensory diets using DIY equipment, sensory tools, home sensory gyms, and minimal equipment that can be implemented in home and at school. Identify ways to grade up/down, adapt, modify, and motivate children for success-oriented activities.

"Unlocking Pediatric Potential: Navigating Pediatric Therapy with Confidence" is an in-depth, 6-hour continuing education course designed to empower therapy providers and students with the knowledge and tools to provide effective care. This course covers essential topics such as understanding key developmental milestones from infancy through adolescence and how they inform assessment and intervention planning. Participants will explore diverse pediatric therapy settings, learn how to navigate the unique challenges and opportunities in schools, clinics, hospitals, and home health environments. The course emphasizes finding resources on evidence-based practices, community services, and tools for ongoing professional growth. Additionally, self-care strategies will be discussed to help therapy providers maintain their well-being and prevent burnout. Treatment approaches and theory along with effective communication techniques with other disciplines and the family will be covered. By the end of this course, you will have increased confidence in creating meaningful interventions, setting achievable goals, and collaborating with families to foster a child's progress all while having fun.
