Project Local, Inc. announces the world premiere of King of Kings: Victory Over the Mountain. Director/Playwright Jeremy Homesley and Music Director/Choreographer Ashley DeMar urge everyone interested in outdoor drama, revolutionary war history or local history to come and support our production. This action-packed performance inspired by the Battle of Kings Mountain and the Southern Campaign of the American Revolution features live-firing historical weaponry and battle reenactments, authentic military uniforms, important details from America’s origin story, and even includes local myths and legends surrounding the near unbelievable turn of events that led Patriot Militia to destroy the largest Loyalist army in the South on a rocky hilltop on a cloudy Wednesday afternoon in the Carolina Backcountry on October the 7th in the year 1780. Using skilled live performers and reenactors, theatrical special effects and pyrotechnics, we recreate the events, and most importantly, a local point of view of the dramatic events of the American Revolution that converged in the Carolina border-country over two hundred years ago.
King of Kings will open on Friday, April 11th and run through Friday, April 18th at Patriots Park (307 S Cansler St, Kings Mountain, NC 28086). Evening performances will be on April 11th & 12th and April 17th & 18th at 7:30PM. Matinee performances will be on April 12th & 13th at 3:00PM. This event is completely free.
