For the band that started as schoolfriends in 2013,King Nun have been on a long road to their upcoming second album, Lamb. Consisting of Theo Polyzoides (vocals and guitar), James Upton (guitar), Nathan Gane(bass) and Caius SY (drums), what would later become an official band started as friends bonding over their shared love of bands off the beaten path, from Richard Hell and Television to Sonic Youth and Pixies. On this foundation, theybuilt their own off kilter indie-punk hybrid, exhibited on 2019's Mass, cited by NME as 'brutal and brilliant' and DIY as 'a sound to be reckoned with'. The band have built an impressive live reputation too, listing headline tours in Europe and the US, with Rolling Stone naming them 'Best Rock Newcomers' at Bonnaroo, and supporting artists including Foo Fighters, Black Flag and Gang of Youths.
FLAT PARTY
“We just wanted to do something a little different,” says Flat Party vocalist Jack Lawther, with the group wrapping flamboyance, humour and complicated emotions around urgent indie rock. “We’re only interested in music that feels exciting. We want it to be more than a song that you can just bung on a playlist.”
With guitar driven bands like The Last Dinner Party, English Teacher and Yard Act signing to major labels and resonating with huge audiences in recent months, Flat Party are coming at a time where interesting, artistic indie has never felt more in demand.
