About this Event
Kim Trujillo has gathered a Trio of three amazing musicians, two of which are straight out of KC! The group includes Kim on Drums, Adam Larson on Saxophone, and Jeff Harshbarger on Upright Bass. This will be a night to celebrate fantastic music, so make sure to get your tickets while supplies last!
Kim Trujillo is a native of Kansas, Kim has been teaching and playing professionally for the past 25 years. An alum of Wichita State University, she graduated Summa Cum Laude with her double bachelor’s in Percussion and Music Composition, and her masters in Music Composition. During her graduate studies, she served as GTA for the Jazz Department and directed the Steel Drum and Salsa Band ensembles. She has studied with such drum greats as John Riley, Matt Wilson, Steve Houghton, Michael Spiro, and Allison Miller.
Bassist/vocalist/composer Jeff Harshbarger has collaborated with visual artists (Nick Cave, David Ford, Molly Murphy) and musicians (Bobby Watson, Francois Rabbath, Nathalie Pires, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, David Balakrishnan, Jandek, Darol Anger, Eugene Chadbourne, Jimmy Karl Black) to produce work that challenges convention. A host of "Jazz in the Afternoon" on 90.1 FM KKFI and a lecturer in Jazz Studies at The University of Kansas, Harshbarger is the recipient of fellowships from the Charlotte Street Foundation, The Kennedy Center, and The Steans’ Institute.
Adam Larson (b. 1990) is an American saxophonist, composer, educator and author currently residing in the Kansas City-area. Larson holds BM and MM degrees in jazz performance from The Manhattan School of Music and was a part of the vibrant NYC jazz scene for eleven years before relocating in 2019. While a resident of the KC-Metro, Larson has held positions at UMKC Conservatory, University of Kansas and The Kansas City Art Institute. Larson currently teaches Entrepreneurship at KCAI. Larson continues to perform in NYC with some of the greatest musicians in the genre.
