About this Event

"Boys were always the right choice, which was great for me, I've always liked boys. Now

that I'm dating queer men, I guess I realise how lucky that was, for me. It feels sort of alien to

have been so lucky."

Killing David is the debut album by King Saul, an SE London-based queer singer and songwriter. In this live concert, King Saul explores his on-again-off-again relationship with David and the transition in his love life: from dating men as a woman, to dating men as a man. Killing David is a grunge-indie acoustic evening about love, loss and expectations.

Killing David is a fictional semi-autobiographical work inspired by Ovid’s myth of Pygmalion and Galatea- the sculptor who created his lover- and the story of Saul and David- the tormented king and the harpist who kept him sane. This album combines the aesthetics of Grunge, Fine Art, and 20th century queer poetry to question which hurts our relationships the most: our worst experiences or our biggest expectations?
