Spanish for Kids uses a unique tri-lingual approach to learning a foreign language by using a combination of songs in Spanish/English and American Sign Language to teach vocabulary and grammar. For young learners (ages pre-K up to 5th grade), the combination of song rhythm and TPR (Total Physical Response) from sign language helps kids easily learn a new language and have a great time doing it!Classes are structured for 30 minutes at a time and students are encouraged to attend class weekly for best learning results.
Classes are taught by Jamie Henneman who has a background in teaching human languages (Spanish, Latin and English as a Second Language) along with working with non-verbal/somatic languages (training horses and dogs). Jamie has a B.A. in Humanities and an M.A. in International Relations. She also lived in Spain for a year in a predominantly non-English speaking town where she worked as a language assistant.
