About this Event

Hey, Kids! Need a break from grocery shopping, running errands, picking up toys, and helping to wash the dishes? Sounds like you need a Kids' Night Out!

This WITF party is just for kids (ages 6-12)! Each night will feature a different STEAM project, a pizza party, and healthy snacks. Meanwhile, all those parents can run errands on their own!

Cost is $20 per child and is all inclusive. Space is limited. Sign up today!

Dates include:

  • September 15 | Ooey Gooey Science

Calling all scientists who aren’t afraid of a little bit of a sticky mess! In our lab on September 15, we will explore the science behind ooey gooey fan favorites – glow-in-the-dark slime and that strange stuff that Dr. Seuss called Oobleck! Is Oobleck a liquid or a solid? We will uncover the mystery of this non-Newtonian substance. And have you ever wondered why slime oozes through your fingers but doesn't stick to your skin? Explorers, come ready to get messy and discover!

  • October 20 | Creepy Crawly Critters

This STEM night is not for the faint of heart! Chemists and engineers combine to concoct (delicious) edible gummy spiders and worms and build a creepy glow creature using the Zoob engineering-design modeling system. Explorers are welcome but not required to wear their Halloween costumes and collect a few treats!

  • November 17 | Powered by CO2

Blow up a balloon with only your hands and launch a rocket on the WITF patio! Both of these experiments are powered by carbon dioxide! We will learn about the chemistry behind the common household ingredients we use to create CO2 and how we can harness the gas to inflate a balloon and even launch a soda bottle rocket! Come ready to get a little messy and dress warm enough to be outside for approximately 30 minutes.

  • December 15 | The Science of Snow and Holiday Magic

Shhh! This one is a secret! You just might be the recipient of a special holiday or winter gift. Explorers will study the science of winter and design a special creation to gift or enjoy.

  • January 19 | Robotics and Coding

Ozobots, Cubelets, Spheros – oh my! Tonight is all about robotics and coding. New coders can explore the basics with the Switcheroo Coding Crew or Bee Bots. Various robotics challenges will introduce explorers to a variety of leading robotics systems in education. No prior robotics experience is required.

Supported by the Anne and Philip Glatfelter III Foundation and the Donald B. and Dorothy L Stabler Foundation

  • February 16 | Valentine’s Day Special

Shhh! This one is a secret! You just might be the recipient of surprise valentine! Explorers will connect valentine’s day with STEM and create a special something to gift to a loved one.

  • March 15 | Aquaponics

Are you missing your summer garden? Learn how aquaponics allows you to grow plants all year long! We will explore WITF’s aquaponics station, and each explorer will leave with their own tabletop aquaponics fish tank (fish not required).

Supported by the Donald B. and Dorothy L Stabler Foundation

  • April 19 | Take Flight!

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to fly a plane? Try out WITF’s new flight simulator! Learn about aerodynamics through various flight explorations and even attempt to master the paper airplane!

Supported by the Anne and Philip Glatfelter III Foundation

  • May 17 | Electrifying Science

Explore the basics of electricity and circuit building before trying your hand at building an arcade, a crystal radio, motion electronics, and green energy! Explorers will also discover static electricity with the Van de Graaf generator. No prior experience required.

Supported by the Anne and Philip Glatfelter III Foundation

  • June 21 | Farm to Table Gardening

Summer is gardening season! Healthy soil, adequate sunlight, and the right temperature are all important for growing. Explorers will test various soil samples, analyze plant health, and pot a vegetable or flower to take home.
