Join a former homeschooler, local mom, and nature/science enthusiast on this guided nature walk around the property of America's Stonehenge. We will take our time exploring and appreciating the smaller details of the natural landscape surrounding us. Our guide will point out the local flora and fauna, including but not limited to brush varieties, bird calls, animal scat, insects, and how to identify things like poison ivy. Attendants are encouraged to ask a lot of questions and share any knowledge they have with the group as well. While our trail will take us through the main complex of structures, the focus of this nature walk will be on plant and animal life. Families are more than welcome to tour the site and learn about the fascinating history of the stone structures before or after the nature walk.
Please feel welcome to bring your water bottle on the walk. Our picnic grove is located near the visitor center for snacks and lunches.
The trail is one-half mile long with steady slopes and uneven terrain. Please wear weather-appropriate clothing and supportive footwear, and be prepared to walk for about one hour. The walk will take place rain or shine.
The nature walk is included with regular admission, which may be purchased online or at the museum.
