Kidderminster Station was officially opened on 30 July 1984. We will be marking this occasion, 40 years on, with a celebratory weekend of attractions.From a recreation of the first train hauled by No. 4930 Hagley Hall to vintage vehicles and model railways, there’ll be plenty to see and do. We’ll also be unveiling our brand new station sign at the front of the station.
Attractions at Kidderminster Station:
-Classic vehicles from the 1980s.
-Live-steam Gauge 1 model railway layout.
-Recreation of The Kidderminster Venturer hauled by 4930 ‘Hagley Hall’ at 12.30pm, preceded by a ceremony to mark the 40th anniversary.
-Guided tours of the Signalbox, 10.00am-4.00pm.
-Have a look around the Carriage Works, 10.00am-4.00pm.
-Brake-van rides with a steam locomotive (additional charge of £5pp applies).
-Kidderminster Railway Museum exhibition showcasing the story of Kidderminster Station.
-The Coalyard Miniature Railway will be operating (additional charge applies).
-An intensive timetable will be in operation, featuring locomotives that were in service back in 1984; 4930 ‘Hagley Hall’ and our historic rake of GWR carriages, 75069 and two Class 52 Westerns; D1062 ‘Western Courier’ and D1015 ‘Western Champion’ (working in place of D1013 ‘Western Ranger’).
‘Freedom of the Line’ tickets can be purchased or Short Journey tickets.
