Celebrate the last weekend day before school starts by riding bike to get donuts & ice cream on Mississippi Avenue with other kids and families as part of Kidical Mass! We will ride from Irving Park in NE on this free, family-friendly, kid-paced bike ride. We’ll start at the Irving Park at 2pm, and ride 1.5 miles to a place on Mississippi Avenue where you can get Ice Cream and Donuts from two adjacent shops. This is the last Sunday before school starts for PPS, so this is a great time to ride was a family before we switch to Bike Bus season!
Meet at 2:00pm, ride bikes at 2:15pm. The bik ride is a flat 3 mile loop, so it is suitable for most young bike riders who can pedal their own bike without training wheels. We will stop for a while to get ice cream and donuts. This ride is free, but bring money to get donuts or ice cream.
We will ride at a slow pace for little pedalers and parents on cargo bikes. Kids should wear a helmet, be able to balance and pedal in a straight line, start and stop. Cargo bikes, tandems, trailers and tag-a-longs are great for kids who haven’t learned to pedal. Adult corkers are welcome to join as a traffic safety superheroes.
We’ll ride together as a group, rain or shine, because kids are traffic too!
