About this Event
Crowdfunding has become one of the most powerful tools available to independent comic creators... but success doesn’t happen by accident.
This 2-hour, hands-on workshop is led by Chris Benamati, Co-Founder of Band of Bards and creator of the comic series A Great & Terrible. Chris has worked on multiple crowdfunding campaigns from both the creator and publisher side and will break down what actually works, and what doesn’t.
In this class, we’ll cover:
- How to prepare before you ever hit “Launch”
- Building momentum and creating buzz ahead of your campaign
- Practical marketing strategies for indie creators (social, email, community, and beyond)
- How to design an effective Kickstarter campaign page that converts visitors into backers
- A clear breakdown of how Kickstarter works, including common pitfalls and misconceptions
- Closing out the campaign and fulfilling it!
We’ll close with an open Q&A, where attendees can ask questions about the course material, crowdfunding strategy, and self-publishing comics in general.
Whether you’re planning your first crowdfunding campaign or looking to improve your next one, this workshop is designed to give you actionable tools, realistic expectations, and a stronger foundation for launching your work.
